Owner Of The Penny Counter
I am the founder of The Penny Counter. My journey began in the year 2012 when I finished my B-Com degree at NWU. I started to work in retail at 4×4 Megaworld, this was the basis for all my business training.
I had an exceptional relationship with the owner and he took me under his wing and taught me all the aspects of the business from financial all the way through to staff management.
The most important lesson I learned from him is not to be a normal worker always go the extra mile. One of the saddest days was when I had to leave, the great man that he is, he helped me to prepare for the interview.
In July 2013 I started to work at Midland Meat little did I know that this would be the best decision I have ever made to move to Midland Meat. After a few months passed, I met the most driven and caring person in the world and fell head over heels in love with her.
We got married on 1 November 2014 and have two wonderful children. It is true what they say behind every successful man there is a strong woman by his side.
I can remember it like yesterday. We were only married a month and I woke up early and told my wife today is the day I am resigning from my work and starting my own business.
I prayed long about it and I finally received my sign.
In January 2015 I started full-time running my first business me and my partner at the time was unstoppable we were hungry for success, we started selling cars from home and soon grew so big we had to open a dealership.
After our success with buying and selling motor vehicles, we ventured into selling log homes and blinds.
All three of these businesses were a huge success but we both were starting to burn out. We grew too big too fast and did not have any mentors guiding us.
We decided the best way forward is to sell all our assets and return to the working market.
2017 was the lowest point of my professional career I felt like a failure I lost all my life savings, I invested the money in failing construction business, but this was the best thing that could have ever happened to me.
I realized what really is important in life and that is family. When I had nothing my wife was there by my side.
I am a firm believer that God has a plan in everything that happens in life good or bad, He is in control.
I believe I am not the only entrepreneur who was living the high life and lost everything and that is why I am so passionate about building a relationship with my clients, when they are crying I want to be there by their side and when they are happy I want to jump up and down with them.
2017 was the turning point in my life and I started to work at Maxtarps and Supplies I had to start from the bottom and worked myself up.
God opened so many doors for me and taught me so many skills in life as well as in business. My wings were wounded when I arrived at Max Tarps and by the grace of God, the owners took me in and nurtured me like a small bird giving me advice and teaching me the right way to do business.
That is to surround and invest in people and that is the core of an exceptional business.
In 2021 it was time to leave the nest and was time to fly, I am co-founder of a new and exciting Manufacturing business that is the sole supplier to Max Tarps for mining, leisure, and industrial tool bags.
I am also the sole owner of The Penny Counter, established in December 2021.
My heart is to teach every business owner how to be the best that they can be and to avoid the mistakes that I made.
If you are looking for a normal accounting firm then The Penny Counter is not the right place for you we are far more than just accountants.
